US resumes Bahrain arms sales despite rights concerns
The United States will resume some military sales to Bahrain, a key Gulf ally facing Iran, despite human rights concerns linked to months of popular protests against the island kingdom's rulers, the State Department said.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nolan stressed that the equipment that will be delivered to Bahrain will not be used in monitoring demonstrations.

US officials confirmed that the sales do not include tear gas and sound grenades.
