Tannoura Maxi sparks frenzy, director fires back at criticism
The “Tannoura Maxi” film sparked frenzy within the Lebanese community at the religious and party level. Criticisms were also fired at its director, Joe Bou Eid, through media outlets as the film was accused of desecrating the Christian sect and the role of clerics as well as distorting the image of the Lebanese Forces during the war. Accordingly, the movie’s director fired back at these criticisms during a press conference, confirming that the movie does not desecrate religion in any form.

The director stressed that everyone is under the church’s umbrella, adding that if the film harms the Christian religion, he will be the first to call for its censorship.

Commenting on accusations that the movie distorted the image of the LF during war, Eid said that the leader of the Lebanese Forces admitted himself that some members of the party had not adhered to the LF’s doctrine and that does not mean that the LF is a corrupt party, as he said. “Shall I falsify facts?” he wondered.
