Charbel: Higher Defense Council decisions to be implemented within 48 hours

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel confirmed on Monday that the decisions of Higher Defense Council will be implemented on the ground within the next 48 hours, through empowering Tripoli’s security apparatus by sending 120 ISF members to contribute with the LAF in preserving security and order.

Commenting on the criticism to General Security action, Charbel noted in a statement to “Voice of Lebanon” radio station, that this issue was discussed during the meeting on Sunday, and it was agreed that any security member has the right to arrest any suspect and hand him over to the judiciary. “If the way of arrest was wrong, a behavioral investigation would take place”, he added.
