REPORT: PM Hariri meets German Chancellor Merkel in Berlin

Prime Minister Saad Hariri met on Tuesday with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin after wrapping up his official visit to Paris.

Following the meeting, Hariri asserted that “terrorism is an epidemic that has no religion,” stressing Lebanon’s commitment to fight terrorism.

“Lebanese security apparatuses must receive the appropriate support to fight terrorism,” Hariri added.

He also noted that receiving the Syrian refugees in Lebanon is considered as a” good deed,” adding that he will tackle Lebanon’s vision to promote development in Brussels’s conference.

Lebanon hosts 1.5 million Syrian refugees who have fled the conflict in the neighboring country.

The Syrian conflict has weakened Lebanon's economy, and fuelled tensions among Lebanese people.
