REPORT: Sergeant Major killed, another injured in an exchange of fire

A communiqué issued on Tuesday by the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces- the Public Relations Department said that Sergeant Major Shadi El-Hajj was killed, and another sergeant major was injured during an exchange of fire with members of a vehicle theft gang.

The communiqué noted that the Bureau of fighting International theft crimes at the judicial police unit received information stating that a 4X4 vehicle theft gang launches its operations from the Rouwaissat region in Jdeideh before taking the vehicles to a neighborhood in Bekaa region.

Thus, a force from the mentioned Bureau on 03/04/2017 watched the gang at Rouwaissat Jdeideh - Nahr El-Mot region, and at 10:30 p.m. while members of the gang were passing in the neighborhood, they were asked to stop but instead the gang members decided to open fire at the soldiers who responded to the fire and injured two of them who were transferred to a nearby hospital.

The wounded were transferred to the hospital where one of them passed away. He was wanted upon 22 arrest warrants.


Unfortunately, Sergeant major Shadi El-Hajj received a bullet in his chest and passed away soon after in the hospital. Another Sergeant major was received a bullet in the foot.

Interior Security Forces - General Directorate stressed that they will continue fighting all criminals and that the martyrdom of the sergeant major will not backtrack them from carrying on their missions, calling upon the citizens to cooperate with them and inform them about any wanted person or criminal they might see or know anything about.
