Minister Machnouq: Contacts are ongoing to find a solution for the crisis

Minister of Interior Nouhad Machnouq said on Wednesday that contacts are ongoing to find a solution for the current crisis, adding that results might be reached following President Michel Aoun’s address to the Lebanese people that will take place at 8:00 PM.

“Contacts are ongoing and the efforts are positive,” he added.

“It was agreed during the security meeting at the Grand Serail on the necessity of preserving the freedom of expression and the prevention of any road cuts,” Machnouq said in reference to the protests that are set to take place on Thursday in case the parliament extends its mandate.

As for the security measures for the holidays, Machnouq noted that all security apparatuses will be in full readiness to protect all Lebanese people in streets as well as in places of worship.
