Patriarch Rai to Aoun: Your decision was wise, decisive and responsible

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai urged on Sunday the parliamentary blocs and the government to agree on a new electoral law during the next month.

Rais’ comments were made during his Easter’s sermon whereby he hailed President Aoun’s use of his powers to force the postponement of a parliamentary session that could have passed a third extension of parliament's mandate.

“Your responsibility obliged you to make a constitutional initiative last Wednesday by invoking Article 59 of the constitution to suspend parliament for one month, your decision was wise, decisive and responsible,” Rai told Aoun who was attending the mass.
