Prime Minister Saad Hariri declared Friday that the Lebanese army defends Lebanon, adding that the government has been exerting efforts to boost the capabilities of the army and security forces in terms of armament and training.
“The Lebanese army has been controlling the borders and perfectly doing their job,” he stated.
Speaking from Naqoura during a tour in the south with Defense Minister Yaacoub al-Sarraf and Lebanese Armed Forces commander General Joseph Aoun, Hariri stressed that “they are committed to the implementation of the international resolution mainly the UN resolution 1701,” noting that Israel has been violation said resolution.
“The peace in the south is the duty of the government, which has been assuming its responsibility,” he said.
Hariri expressed his rejection to the tour organized by Hezbollah on Thursday along the border.
