In northern Mosul in Iraq, the residents of Nineveh with their different affiliations and sects, mainly the Muslims, kicked off reconstruction works to rebuild what was destroyed by Islamic State fighters in the religious landmark of St. George's Monastery (Mar Gurguis).
The monastery is not the only location destroyed by IS fighters, but other ancient religious landmarks were damaged as well.
