MP Gemayel blames leaders for not drafting a new vote law yet
Kataeb party leader MP Sami Gemayel said on Monday the political authorities in Lebanon are the ones behind the imminent vacuum that looms in the horizon.
Gemayel’s comments were made during a press conference whereby he blamed the leaders for standing idly by and not drafting a new vote law.
Lebanon's political parties are struggling over amending the current 1960 election law.
The parliament is set to convene mid May in order to extend its own mandate if consensus is not reached on a new vote law for the country's parliamentary elections.
On another note, Gemayel voiced rejection to the use of the electricity file to “settle accounts between the political rivals.”
“We oppose the rent of power generating ships that cost 880 million US dollars for five years while the country is in dire need of these fund,” he concluded by saying.
