Gemayel: we should wait investigations outcome

Coordinator of the Kataeb party's central committee MP Sami Gemayel refused on Tuesday allegations that the Lebanese Army deliberately assassinated two Sheikhs in Akkar few days ago, calling on all sides to await the outcome of the investigations by the military judicial authorities.       

"According to my information which I obtained from security sources in Beirut, the convoy of Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Wahed refused to stop at an army check point, prompting the soldiers to fire three shots in the air and the sheikh's escort opened fire on the checkpoint, injuring three soldiers. This army had to respond to the shooting which caused the death of Abdul Wahed," Gemayel explained.         

Gemayel stressed that the killing could have been an accident.           

He added that this information could be accurate and could be not, calling on all parties to await the outcome of the investigations.        

He assured that his party did not abandon the principles of March 14 forces but nevertheless "we have the right to point at the mistakes of our allies".
