Rai feers civil war in Syria

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai stressed on Tuesday that the situation in Syria affects Lebanon adding that regional and international interests are in conflict seemingly since money and promises are flowing from all sides, in order to make strife.

On a talk with “Beirut Observer” the Patriarch assured that the downfall of Assad’s regime does not worry them, but that civil war in Syria does. He added an extremist group gaining power in Syria and government split ups are reasons that cause distress.

Rai reiterated that Muslims through all their sects are moderate people, expressing sadness that extremists are being supported by nations whose interest is to destabilize the region.
