An argument erupted between Prime Minister Saad Hariri and MP Samy Gemayel during Friday’s legislative session held to pass the new electoral law.
In the details, Gemayel accused the government of adopting a term extension in order to have time to distribute electoral bribes.
Hariri immediately cut him off saying that “this is not what the cabinet has been doing.”
“I did not cut you off so let me finish,” Gemayel replied, before Hariri left the hall for a brief period of time.
Consequently, Speaker Nabih Berri called for removing the expression from the minutes, prompting Gemayel to reply: “You can cross this out but you cannot prevent us from saying what we want.”
