Lebanon received a rating of “Largely Compliant” after the Panama meetings of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax held on June 12 and 13, 2017.
During these meetings, Lebanon was represented by Director General of the Ministry of Finance Alain Bifani, delegated by Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil, as well as Pierre Kanaan and Carine Chartouni delegated by the Banque du Liban.
This evaluation allowed Lebanon to overcome the Fast Track review and therefore avoid being included to the blacklist for non-compliance with the rules of fiscal transparency.
