Lebanese President Michel Suleiman has announced Thursday that he will be delivering a written letter to all political parties to heed the call to dialogue that is set for the second week of June.

Suleiman stated in a talk to LBCI’s “Kalam En Nas” that the ongoing strife in Syria will not spill over into Lebanon calling on all fronts to further strengthen internal security.

In response to fears expressed by the Saudi King, Suleiman pointed that the precautionary steps being taken by the Lebanese government to stop the country from being sucked into the clashes in Syria are the wisest strategy that can be applied under the circumstances.

On another hand, Suleiman reassured that the all Lebanese abductees are well and will be released soon.

In regards to the LAF Suleiman said that the the Lebanese Army’s prestige and dignity will remain constant no matter what happens. “The institution is performing its duties by controlling the border and halting smuggle operations” he added.

The president also clarified that Lebanon is not a fertile for Al-Qaeda adding that he has not received any reports pertaining to possible assassinations. In regards to the subject of the arms deal, Suleiman said that no Lebanese fronts have been involved.

As for the letter of the Syria’s representative to the UN, Suleiman said: “Had Riad al Assaad been in Lebanon, we would have captured him by now”.       Suleiman also stated that civil peace is something that should be agreed upon by all parties and factions. He also expressed his hopes for the return of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri to Lebanon saying that the latter plays an integral part in the Lebanese political arena.

In response to Speaker Nabih Berri’s statements pertaining to Aoun, Suleiman said that the latter was not wronged during his tenure however he may have been mistreated in others. “It’s not a strife between two generals” he assured.

As for the fiscal file, Suleiman revealed that no one had spoken to him regarding the 11 billion LBP matter stressing that he is with the punishment of whomever is behind the issue.

Suleiman called for focus on the budget and said that a state of ministerial/parliamentary emergency should be declared to figure out a solution for the problem.

In regards to the election file Suleiman said that he will not back down on the issue of proportional representation stressing on the need to involve expatriates and to hold the elections on schedule.
