The cost for renting the governmental buildings for the public institutions reaches around LBP 200 billion per year.
The ESCWA building paid by the Foreign Affairs Ministry is estimated to be most expensive one, the rent of which reached in 2016 LBP 13.2 billion, and LBP 15 billion in 2017, according to a study conducted by Information International.
Among these buildings:
Justice Ministry and courts: LBP 644 million
Administrative Development Ministry: LBP 1 billion
Audit Bureau: LBP 1.165 billion
Civil Service Council: LBP 565 million
Central Inspection: LBP 1.119 billion
Sunni Courts: LBP 538 million
Shiite Courts: LBP 825 million
Lebanese embassies abroad: LBP 25 billion
Directorate General for Transportation: LBP 946 million
Secondary Education: LBP 10 billion
University Education: LBP 21 billion
Primary Education: LBP 19 billion
Directorate General for State Security: LBP 700 million
General Security: LBP 1.790 billion
Finance Ministry: LBP 1.195 billion
The government has been paying these amounts for years without finding a solution for them, these amounts could be enough to fund the pay scale and reduce the burdens weighing down on the treasury.
