Prime Minister Saad Hariri stressed Tuesday that there is no coordination between the Lebanese and Syrian armies. “Enough outbidding in the issue of the army,” he said.
Hariri stated that the Lebanese army is the one responsible for fighting in the border region and inside the Lebanese territories, as well as for the protection of the Syrian refugees living in Lebanon. He added that the issue is caused by the failure to demarcate the borderline in the mountainous region of Arsal.
Speaking from the parliament, Hariri said that the Lebanese army has been investigating into the death of the Syrian detainees in Arsal with the help of three civilian coroners.
The prime minister pointed out that negotiating with the Syrian regime will not resolve the issue of the refugees; otherwise, the issue would have been resolved with Iraq and other countries having security relations with Syria.
“We are waiting for a green light from the United Nations regarding the refugees,” he noted.
Concerning the pay scale, PM Hariri expressed his objection to passing the pay scale without resources. “If some have changed their minds regarding the taxes, then we do not want the pay scale,” he said.
On the waste crisis, he stated that a ministerial committee has approved “waste to energy” study that will be later referred to the parliament.
