The recent events on the ground indicate that the parliamentary sub-elections in Tripoli and Keserwan are unlikely to be held at the end of September, contrary to the previous speculations.
The Interior Ministry, which had said that it is ready for these elections, has not yet set a date; a date that supposed to be announced at least two months ahead.
According to latest information, the interior minister will offer an explanation during the upcoming cabinet session.
Several political forces call for holding the sub-elections, basing their stance on constitutional principle that says that a vacant seat must be filled should the period until the end of the parliament’s term exceeds 6 months.
However, other politicians have fears that these elections could reveal “the size of the political forces,” preferring that they would not be held.
