The cabinet discussed Thursday during a session held at Baabda presidential palace under the chairmanship of President Michel Aoun and in the presence of Prime Minister Saad Hariri, an agenda with 57 items, including the appointments of monitoring apparatuses, governors and Ogero body.
The cabinet appointed Judge Henry Helo as a president of the Shura Council, succeeding Judge Chekri Sader, as well as Wael Khadaj as General Financial Inspector as the Central Inspection.
However, the ministers withdrew the item pertaining to the appointment of governors from the session’s agenda.
Education Minister Marwan Hamadeh and Health Minister Ghassan Hasbani objected to the Ogero appointments. Hamadeh noted that “it is surprising to dismiss Chekri Sader since he had only one year of service.”
Public Works Minister Youssef Finianos also objected to the appointments, saying that “those who do not follow the policy of the era will go home.”
On the issue of the sub-elections, Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq said that the sub-elections of Keserwan and Tripoli will be discussed during the upcoming session.
Regarding the pay scale, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil said that there is a possibility that some of the items can be corrected when discussing the budget, adding that the ministerial committee tasked with setting up an economic comprehensive plan will be reactivated.
