The Maronite Bishops stressed that the decision of the Constitutional Council regarding the appeal against the new tax law is an advanced step in the work of public institutions, and a proof of the need for the state to stay completely committed to the Constitution.
Following their regular monthly meeting in Bkerke, the bishops called on the state to pay the difference in salaries caused by the raise stipulated by the pay scale, so that the increase in tuition can be avoided.
They also called on the national and international political authorities to exert maximum efforts to hasten the process of refugees’ return to Syria, in order to relieve Lebanese form the heavy burden it has been carrying.
