REPORT: Tax law vote: 9 MPs abstained from voting and 5 voted against

The tax law was passed by a direct voting at the parliament’s legislative session.

Nine deputies abstained from voting, while 5 deputies voted against the law.

 

The nine deputies are the members of the Loyalty of Resistance bloc (8 MPs) in addition to MP Nicolas Fattouch. The main reason behind their abstention of their objection to the first article of the law and which is related to imposing a 1% raise to the VAT to become 11%.

 

The five deputies who voted against are two from the Kataeb party, MPs Samy Gemayel and Samer Saadeh, MP Khaled el-Daher, MP Boutros Harb and MP Ali Ammar.
