State Security arrests cell planning to carry out bombings

The Directorate General of State Security arrested a cell in the region of Hasbaya that was observing strategic positions in order to carry out bombings in Lebanon.

The cell is formed of four Syrian nationals headed by Khaled M. who confessed of establishing IS-affiliated groups on social media platforms, circulating directives and photos about manufacturing explosive devices and mines.

He also confessed of promoting sectarian and provocative statements and other publications that target the president and the Lebanese army.

The suspect also confessed of communicating with terrorists inside the Ain el-Helweh refugee camp, Syria and Iraq.

He also said that he previously declared in an audio recording his readiness to “become a martyr” and to carry out terrorist activities that target one of the Lebanese parties, Casino Du Liban and some nightclubs.
