REPORT: Resorting to UN Security Council could be an option: What is Russia’s position?

Amid the diplomatic movement aiming at putting an end to the crisis caused by the sudden and ambiguous resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri last Saturday from Saudi Arabia, Russia did not enter the line of positions since it did not have the complete information, but this means that it will not stand idly by while the case is raised internationally.

Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin said that “it is about Lebanon’s sovereign rights that must be respected, since the prime minister is currently in an unclear situation.”

“I do not rule out resorting to the UN Security Council if the case lasted longer without any explanation,” he stated.
