In an interview with French Magazine Paris Match, Prime Minister Saad Hariri said that he declared his resignation from Riyadh because he wanted to create a positive shock for Lebanon, noting that had he been detained, he would be able to return to Beirut, or Paris, or Egypt or Cyprus.
Asked about whether he will resume his duties as prime minister as if nothing happened, he said “yes, I wanted the world to understand that Lebanon is longer able to bear the interventions of Hezbollah in the affairs of Gulf States and we should not be paying the price of the party’s actions.”
However, Hariri said that Hezbollah has a political role, adding that it has weapons but does not using the inside Lebanon.
“It is in Lebanon’s interest to guarantee not using these weapons elsewhere,” he stated.
