Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber al-Sabah, opening a summit of the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council, on Tuesday called for a mechanism in the Western-backed GCC to resolve disputes among its members.
Sheikh Sabah has been trying to mediate an end to a rift between GCC members Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain on one side and Qatar on the other, since June without success.
