Parents of the Notre Dame de Louaize School’s students held a sit-in on Wednesday against the increase in school tuition fees saying.
The parents vowed escalatory steps “in case the increase remains.”
They called on President Michel Aoun to control the increase in private schools.
They also called on all parents not to pay the second tuition fees unless a solution would be found considering that “if the state’s budget was corrected; the government would be able to fully grant the ranks and salaries series.”
For his part, Director of NDL School Father Ziad Antoun clarified that the increase on tuition fees is “reasonable” and was “studied in depth.”
He also added that the increase “abides by the law enforced by the government within the ranks and salaries series.”
Antoun stressed on holding on to the negotiations with the parents or else “it becomes the student’s loss.”
He deplored the fact that studies have been suspended today in order to avoid “the chaos that might occur due to the sit-in.”
