Westerwelle meets Lebanese officials, warns against “regional explosion”
German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle called on Friday, for ending the violence in Syria to prevent a “regional explosion”         

After meeting with PM Najib Mikati, Westerwelle expressed his surprise concerning the ongoing violence in Syria, adding that the Syrian crisis has a direct impact on the region, especially on Lebanon.        

Westerwelle stressed that Germany will continue its work in order to reach a solution within the United Nations, through strengthening the political pressure on the regime of Syrian President Bachar Assad, by imposing sanctions.             

Westerwelle left Beirut on Friday afternoon, after meeting with PM Najib Mikati, President Michel Sleiman, Speaker Nabih Berri and Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour.
