UK Ambassador to UN confirms to LBCI “Annan plan has not failed”
UK Ambassador to UN, Mark Lyall Grant said on Friday that the Annan plan has not failed but is facing challenges, stressing that the Syrian situation requires resolutions under Chapter 7.

In a statement to LBCI’s correspondent in New York, Adla Massoud, the ambassador called for “a broad understanding among the key players in the international community about how we can engage, from where we are now, into a political dialogue, leading to a political transition that meets the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people.”

“First, we should focus on reducing the level of violence, because if the level of violence is not reduced, it will be impossible to get both sides to sit down and talk,” he stressed.
