Mikati, Kahwaji laud dissociation policy
Lebanese PM Najib Mikati confirmed on Tuesday that the directives under which the LAF operates are an accurate translation of the disassociation policy.

During his visit to the Ministry of Defense in al-Yerze where he was received by Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn and LAF Commander Jean Kahwaji, Mikati refused that Lebanese territory be used for arms or gunmen smuggling or for the establishment of a buffer zone where “terrorism, extremism and the like would grow.”

Mikati stressed that the strength of the army does not lie in weaponry only, but in national unity.

In turn, the LAF commander pointed out the scale of challenges and difficulties facing Lebanon, whether on an internal or external level.

Kahwaji voiced support for the self-distancing policy, stressing that the LAF will remain “under the law”.
