Siniora: Some parties seek to spread Syria unrest to Lebanon

The head of the “Future” bloc MP Fouad Siniora noted on Friday that some parties are seeking to spread the unrest in Syria to Lebanon, particularly the North through portraying it as an area “rife with terrorists and fundamentalists.”

During a press conference, Siniora said that national dialogue in Lebanon is not an alternative to constitutional committees, cabinet or Parliament, pointing that dialogue “must begin with the acceptance of the other”.

Siniora said that the cabinet raised the tension level in the country by the way it has been performing, noting that the cabinet’s approval to the financial advance is a message to the international community to show a positive image of the financial situation. Siniora added that this step came as a reason to avoid the preparation of a budget.
