United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres stressed Thursday that the Syrian displacement has had a huge impact on the Lebanese economy and society, noting that Lebanon has shown a great strength.
Speaking during Rome II conference, Guterres emphasized the need that the international community shows solidarity with Lebanon, pointing out that the parliamentary elections to be held in May are clear evidence that Lebanon is committed to democracy.
Guterres stated that the security apparatuses in Lebanon have realized many accomplishments and guaranteed security at the borders, adding that this would have not been possible without the support of countries such as Britain and the United States, calling for maintaining stability in Lebanon and the region.
