Prime Minister Saad Hariri said Thursday during the parliamentary session that the delay in passing the budget is due to the political situation in the country, noting that the budget was drafted with hard and effective work.
On the issue of electricity, Hariri stated that the government has submitted an integrated electricity plan and is trying to provide temporary power within three to five years until the permanent solution is ready, stressing that the cabinet will reach a solution for the issue of Deir Amar before the end of the mandate.
“Real structural reforms mean improving the labor conditions and preventing the citizens from becoming employees for the public sector employees,” he pointed out.
“If I was told about a corrupt with evidence, I will hold him accountable before the judiciary, even if he-she was from the Future Movement,” Hariri explained, noting that role of censorship and disciplinary bodies is being increased.
The PM stressed that Lebanon is not a bankrupt country, stating that they are working on reaching a balance between growth, expenses and payments.
“We must reduce our expenses and spend money where there are investments, and you must know that reforms will be painful and if we sought austerity, it is for the citizens’ interests,” he said.
