Lebanese expatriates were able to vote in their countries of residence without traveling to Lebanon, as they cast their votes in Lebanese embassies and consuls, as well as other places determined by the Lebanese Interior Ministry in coordination with the Foreign Ministry, in accordance with the article 111 of the new electoral law.
The voting of expatriates practically means without a doubt the use of mega centers, which will not be used on May 6 elections in Lebanon after the political parties failed to reach agreement over it during cabinet discussions and due to the tight timeline that prevented the Interior Ministry from making it happen.
The establishment of Mega Centers requires drafting new voter lists to transfer the names of a large number of citizens from their place of registration to their place of residence, which was impossible to realize in a short time.
