REPORT: BDL to sell international bonds amounting 2 billion US dollars

Banque du Liban Governor Riyad Salameh announced on Wednesday that the Central Bank will sell International bonds amounting 2 billion US dollars within one year.

The bank’s step comes as a part of a debt swap that the government says will boost the Central Bank’s reserves and will reduce debt service costs.

Salameh’s comments were made to Reuters whereby he asserted that the debt swap plan amounts 5.5 to 6 billion US dollars announced by Minister of Finance Ali Hassan Khalil at the end of March.
