Interior and Municipalities Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq discussed the repercussions of the US decision to withdraw from the Iranian nuclear deal on the Arab region, and the results of the elections in Lebanon and Iraq, with UAE deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Seif bin Zayed at his office in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of the Lebanese Ambassador to the UAE, Fouad Dandan, and a panel of advisers.
Minister Al-Mashnouq highlighted the need to lift the travel ban preventing Emiratis from visiting Lebanon, not only for economic support but to confirm Lebanon’s effective membership in the Arab Group.
On a related note, the minister welcomed “the US decision to withdraw from the nuclear deal with Iran,” expressing understanding of the European stance over the US decision.
He also denounced the repeated Israeli strikes on Syria, “regardless of the target.”
The minister noted that “this is the first time in years a US decision will be capable of bringing Iran to a balanced dialogue table to discuss Iran’s nuclear and ballistic activities as well as the country’s expansion in the Arab region,” expecting that the US administration will exert a serious economic pressure on the European companies operating in Iran.
