MP Antoine Habshy expressed concern over the suspicious silence and extreme secrecy surrounding the issue of the naturalization decree, noting that the public opinion and its right to be aware of such a serious matter are being undermined.
Habshy explained that naturalization decrees require transparency and tight rules, as well as deep review of each case.
“It is enough, from the names that has been circulating, to know that the means adopted in this process turned the nationality into a commodity for trade,” he stated.
He also stressed that the “Strong Republic” bloc stands firmly against this decree and will use all legal means available to challenge it, if it was truly in fact signed.
On another note, the deputy called on the authorities and the security apparatuses to take immediate action to find a solution for the security situation in Baalbek – Hermel.
