New innovations to prevent burning tires

Several protests that took place in Lebanon during the past few years and that involved blocking roads, also witnessed burning rubber tires.

The protesters consider the fact of burning tires the fastest and easiest way to express their anger and to deliver their message. However, this act can cause very dangerous diseases when inhaling the smoke produced and will contribute in amplifying pollution levels.

In turn, owners of tire shops do not favor allowing protesters to take the tires and burn them; therefore they attached the tires they usually leave outside the shop, with metal chains. Other owners preferred dumping the used tires in landfills.
