Assir to LBCI: I will sell my land for compensation

Through LBCI, Bilal Bin Rabbah Mosque Sheikh Ahmad Al-Assir confirmed that he had received a phone from the Minister of Interior Marwan Charbel, whereby the latter had requested that Assir open Sidon Road. In response the Sheikh stated that he was not convinced with the Minister’s pleas, adding that [Hezbollah’s] arms hegemony has succeeded in uniting the Sidonian and National front.           

He went on to say that he is not supported by any foreign or internal group as he apologized once again for the inconvenience his demonstration has caused the people of the South so far.                 

Commenting on the monetary loss of businesses surrounding the sit-in, Assir said that he is willing to sell his land and later on his home to compensate for the losses.            

 “The arms of the Resistance have humiliated the Lebanese people on several occasions, one of them being the 7th of May riots. This demonstration is not against the President Michel Sleiman, but against the hegemony that the Resistance has been imposing on the country through its weapons,” Assir said.                 
He added that the prestige of both the LAF and the Lebanese government is being undermined under the shadow of Hezbollah’s arms.                

Sheikh Assir’s demonstration has now entered into its third day since its start on Wednesday evening.
