Ten years ago, former MP Ghassan Mkheiber started preparing the draft law pertaining to the protection of whistle-blowers, which was approved on Thursday by the joint committees.
This law will guarantee incentives and protection to anyone who exposes a corruption case, regardless of the apparatus they present the case to.
In accordance with this law, an apparatus can no longer reject a corruption case, on the pretext that it does not fit within its powers, but it will have to take it on and then refer it to the concerned party or apparatus.
Also by this law, any person who exposes the identity of a whistle-blower will be exposed to criminal prosecution.
