Caretaker Industry Minister: A comprehensive economic policy is needed
Caretaker Minister of Industry Hussein al-Hajj Hassan voiced hopes on Sunday that the agriculture and industry sectors would have more attention in the new Cabinet.
“The industry suffers from foreign competition and internal obstacles along with neglect from the previous governments,” he said during the inauguration of the first soap exhibition in the southern city of Bent Jbeil.
He also noted that his ministry submitted over 20 projects and suggestions to support the industry, adding that the lack of an economic vision hindered their implementation.
“A comprehensive economic policy and a long-term economic program for the industry and agriculture is much needed,” he stressed.

The minister also noted that Lebanon's economy is based on border crossings and transit movements with the neighboring countries, mainly Syria, highlighting the importance of “best relations with our sister state, Syria, as well as Jordan and Iraq.”
