Maronite Bishops stress necessity to select employees according to their competence
The Maronite bishops' meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Patriarch Beshara Boutros Rahi ended and a statement was issued whereby they stressed that the dialogue table is expected to establish trust between parties. The statement condemned the kidnappings, weapons spread across the country, blocking the roads and violations along the border, hoping that the authorities will intensify their efforts to restore security in the country.

Commenting on what happened Tuesday in the parliamentary session due to passing a law granting tenure to EDL contract workers, the Maronite bishops stressed in the statement the necessity to consolidate the regulatory authorities to select the employees in a fair way without negligence, and according to their competence.

The Maronite Bishops expressed surprise towards the deadlock and paralysis prevailing in the country and the “doubting of state capabilities”, calling on the Lebanese to hold onto the basis of coexistence and the 1943 national pact.

On the other hand, the Maronite Bishops confirmed that the Holy See announced the date of the Pope’s visit to Lebanon on the 14th, 5th and 16th September.
