MP Arslan tackles Sweida’s hostages in Moscow

Lebanese Democratic Party head MP Talal Arslan tackled on Friday the dossier of Sweida’s hostages with top Russian leaders in Moscow.

Dozens of people were killed on July 25 in coordinated assaults by Islamic State militants who overran villages and staged multiple suicide attacks inside government-held Sweida city, killing more than 200 people, many of them civilians and kidnapping others.

The Sweida area, in southwestern Syria, is mostly inhabited by people from the Druze sect. There have been negotiations between Druze authorities and Islamic State for the hostages' release.

Arsaln also discussed the latest regional developments, mainly the Syrian crisis and the Syrian refugees crisis in Lebanon.

He asserted the importance of the return of the refugees to Syria.
