Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah stressed Sunday that “the liberation of the mountains is a victory made by the golden equation of the army, the people and the resistance,” noting that the liberation would not have been realized if it was not for the victories of the Syrian army and its allies in the neighboring region to the Lebanon.
In a speech he delivered on the occasion of the anniversary of the mountains’ liberation under the headline “Glory and Victory,” Nasrallah emphasized that starting from the second liberation in the Bekaa and the first in the south, there is no place for occupation in Lebanon as long as the will of the people is attached to freedom, sovereignty and dignity.
He added that the United States had interfered to prevent the Lebanese Armed Forces from taking part in the battle against the Islamic State in the mountainous region of Arsal.
“Washington does not have allies, it uses everyone as tools and when the Americans talk about defeating IS, they are lying because they were working to prolong the life of the organization,” he stated.
On the cabinet formation, Sayyed Nasrallah said that Hezbollah is still betting on the internal dialogue, adding that time is running out and a solution has become necessary, explaining that “the relation between Hezbollah and President Aoun is based on trust; no party imposes its policies and orientations on the other and everything said and written other than that is wrong.”
“Some March 14 sources say that the main reason behind the delay in cabinet formation is that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon is set to issue its verdict in September and the new situation in the country will be the basis of the formation,” he noted.
In this regard, Nasrallah stressed that “the STL does not mean anything to Hezbollah, and any statement issued by it is of no value to them, whether it was a “conviction” or an “acquittal”.”
Addressing those who are betting on the decisions of the STL, he said “do not play with fire.”
One another note, Hezbollah chief said that development in the Bekaa region requires cooperation and Hezbollah is determined to cooperate with Amal Movement to boost this development.
“Once the cabinet is formed and legislation kicks off at the Parliament, a draft law will be presented to form a development council for Baalbek-Hermel,” he added.
