Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros Rai said that the Lebanese politicians are busy discussing the sizes of their parliamentary blocs, sharing the ministerial shares and debating over constitutional prerogatives, while Lebanon’s public debt has been paralyzing the economic growth and the production activity. He called for reducing expenditure, controlling public waste and keeping the political gains away from administration.
In his holy sermon delivered during Sunday’s mass at Our Lady of Elige Church, Rai stated that 51% of the Lebanese voters did not participate in the parliamentary elections and refused to give the elections their confidence, stressing that “it has been revealed that their doubts were well-placed.”
