Clinton to visit Israel next week

From Hanoi during an Asian tour that will take her to Cambodia, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called on Tuesday for all sides in Egypt to engage in talks to safeguard the political transition after newly elected President Mohamed Mursi defied the army by reversing its decision to dissolve parliament.

"We strongly urge dialogue and concerted effort on the part of all to try to deal with the problems that are understandable but have to be resolved in order to avoid any kind of difficulties that could derail the transition that is going on," Clinton said.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's second leg will be Israel on the 16th and 17th of July following her Egyptian stop.

Deputy Secretary of State William Burns will visit Israel and the West Bank this week, in preparation for Clinton’s visit. Burns will be meeting Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas and PM Salam Fayyad.

Speaking in Vietnam, Clinton said she was looking forward to visiting Israel next week as part of a two-week foreign tour.
