Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea said that “if Lebanon's economic situation remains as it is today, then it will not be able to fulfill the required amount of expenses in 2019, which is unacceptable.”
Following the meeting of the “Strong Republic” bloc in Maarab, Geagea said that “the country needs practical steps to take effect,” noting that they will present proposals to the new cabinet if formed within less than a week, in order to be able to salvage the dire economic situation.
"At the current stage, we consider ourselves the custodians of public funds and the guardians of people's interests," he noted.
Addressing students, Geagea said, "Do not respond to any sort of provocation, the situation in the country cannot afford such setbacks, we will not withdraw the reconciliation and we will not allow anyone to compromise it easily.”
