Arslan calls for national referendum
In a press conference held on Saturday, the head of the Lebanese Democratic Party MP Talal Arslan called for a referendum on the role of the army, saying that such a referendum places politicians before their responsibilities, disallowing them to evasion from commitments.

Arslan added that Lebanon’s defense lies within the tripartite equation: the LAF, the Resistance and the people, noting that the Resistance is being subjected to "systematic campaigns since the year 2000 and today this campaign also targets the army".

Commenting on the Kwaykhat incident, Arslan said that the issue should remain in a strict legal context adding that "it is the LAF’s responsibility is to protect and serve the country".
