Geagea to Aoun: “Red lines” should not be crossed

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea announced on Wednesday that the blocking of roads is a mere attempt by the FPM to garner more popularity after its “act was exposed at cabinet”.   

Geagea questioned the reason that the LAF supporters did not stage similar protests when the pilot, First Lt. Samer Hanna, died while flying over Sojod. “They simply wondered ‘what was he doing there?’", Geagea said.    

“Where were those [supporters] when 4 army officers were arrested for 4 months in the wake of the 2008 Mar Mkhayel incident in Beirut's Southern Suburbs?” he wondered during a dinner in Meerab.   

Addressing the Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun, Geagea said “in politics, all means can be used. However, one should not cross [the limits] and toy with national feeling ; the situation of the country is on the brink of the abyss”.    

Commenting on the issue of EDL contract workers, Geagea confirmed that he supports granting the contractual workers their rights, adding, however, that this should come in line with the public administrations guidelines, “without chaos and political calculations”.
