Caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said Wednesday that the Lebanese-UK partnership is built on a firm platform made by common values based on pluralism, openness and democracy, which creates a friendly atmosphere for investment and work, noting that Lebanon is a nation that protects liberties and security for its people and guests, even if it was at the expense of its economic and social interests.
Speaking at the Lebanon-UK Business and Investment Forum in London, Bassil pointed out that Lebanon had borne the burden of other states’ wars and has always been attacked, rather than the attacker, stressing that Lebanon has always respected the UN resolutions, and is committed to the resolution 1701.
“We are here with PM-designate Saad Hariri to send a positive message and to tell you that you can trust our country,” he said, emphasizing that the partnership between the president and the PM-designate will definitely lead to the formation of the new cabinet.
