Lebanese army officer confronts Israeli soldiers at southern borders in a new heroic act

"Behind the tree", this is the expression used by Lebanese army officer Mohammad Qeriani that forced the Israeli enemy army to pull back 5 meters, after they started installing a 200-meter long barbed wire along the Blue Line, crossing the technical fence in three spots in al-Sharaki hill off Mays al-Jabal.

Qeriani pointed his rifle in the direction of the Israeli army while a Lebanese Army unit ordered them to pull the barbed wire back, specifically to “behind a tree” that determines the point separating the Lebanese borders from the occupied Palestinian lands.

The stand-off caused a tension in the area, forcing the Israeli soldiers to pull back amid the deployment of the UNIFIL.

Qeriani’s urge to defend the land runs in the family hailing form the southern town of Beit Rahal. In 1984, his mother Fatima set as Israeli Merkava tank on fire in the town’s square.
